Getting there

You need to allow a day either side of your stay at Johns Place for travel.

Your final flight destination is the International Airport of Padang, Sumatra, Indonesia. This is the gateway to the Mentawai Islands.

Upon arrival at Padang Airport you will be greeted by our driver and taken to your hotel, we recommend the Mercure Padang Hotel due to its high standard and close proximity to the airport and ferry terminal. Note* Hotel costs are not included in your package, we can have these booked and paid on check in.

Next Morning, our driver will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the Fast Ferry in the port of Padang, destination Tuapajet. This service leaves every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 6.00 am in the morning, be prepared for an early departure.

The Fast Ferry takes 3.5 hours and you will be assigned a seat, however if the weather is good, it is nice to sit on the top deck, take in the sights and fresh air.

Upon arrival into Tuapajet you will be met by a “John’s Place” representative, with a short 5-10 min boat ride from the ferry terminal you will have your feet in the white sands of our amazing foreshore. Your first day isn't over yet! a nice lunch and out for a surf !! The return Fast Ferry runs Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

The return trip is similar. You can surf the morning of your last day, some lunch and then you will be transferred to the Fast Ferry terminal for your trip back to Padang. When you arrive in Padang you will be transferred to your hotel. The following morning you will be transferred to Padang International Airport for your return flight home.
